Sustainable COnstruction REsearch group

Sustainable COnstruction REsearch group, abbreviated as SCORE, is the brainchild of Prof. Sandeep Chaudhary. SCORE recognizes the need for sustainability in the construction industry and has been actively working towards achieving the same. SCORE is a multi-disciplinary research group with members and collaborations across different countries from both industry and academia.

SCORE aligns with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDG), with a keen focus towards SDG 9, SDG 11 and SDG 12. SCORE undertakes a wide range of research activities. Although, SCORE specializes in developing sustainable construction materials and building products, the group also works on structural engineering, cyber physical systems, advanced characterization and rural development.

SCORE is responsible for engineering several first-of-its-kind innovative building products. These products have received several awards and accolades along with wide public attention. Two of the iconic products developed by SCORE include Naturally coloured bi-layered bricks and GOBAiR-fly ash bricks. Naturally coloured bi-layered brick is a cost-effective architectural brick developed by upcycling dimensional stone wastes and was the first technology transferred to the industry. GOBAiR-fly ash brick is a special class of light-weight brick developed by using cow dung as a foaming agent and has received several awards and accolades.

SCORE has recently expanded its scope of work to focus on rural development. This is in light of the fact that two-third of the population in India resides in villages. As a part of rural development SCORE is also working towards livelihood creation, clean energy and sanitation.

SCORE aims to develop sustainable industry ready solutions to the global challenges in the field of construction industry and rural development. SCORE welcomes the participation of all stakeholders to make this vision a reality.
